Denver was also selected to play host to the 1976 winter Olympics; however, Denver holds the notorious distinction of being the only city ever to decline such a nomination.

Denver’s weather is considered to be a semi-arid climate with four distinct seasons. The city has a fairly mild climate due to its proximity to the Rocky Mountains.
